and at the end… there was you
to my janet zelda on your 365th day…
we discovered you would be joining our tribe just a couple of days before christmas while baba and i were decorating the front of the house. hunter napped, baba untangled a strand of lights, and i found out i was pregnant. i knew… i swear to you bird i knew… right in that first moment you would be a girl. life could not get any more magical than it was that christmas. or so i thought.
you came into this world on saturday of labor day weekend a few days after your due date. it was the labor and delivery experience of my dreams with affirmation signs, mantra cards, and a necklace crafted with beads gifted to me from all the warrior women in my life. it was wild and loud. powerful and incredible. and at the end… there was you. my perfect little bird.
you. where do i begin with you?
well… jay… simply put… you are tough. tough in every sense of the word.
you give your baba and me a run for our money.
you refusing anything less than exactly what you want.
you are a mama’s girl – always most happy in my arms.
you destroy everything your brother builds.
you clean your plate and then finish every morsel hunter leaves behind.
you have absolutely no concept of personal space.
you love legos and hot wheels cars, peas and popsicles.
your favorite toy is a plastic pirate with red hair and a missing vest baba bought at an airport gift shop.
you dance with complete abandon and zero rhythm.
you frantically search for hunter the moment your eyes open every morning.
you are strong, fast, and crazy loud.
your love and laugher are earned.
and your smile… jay bird – your smile… it is beyond.
you were and are truly the most beautiful baby i have ever seen.
happy birthday my tough little bird.
i love you something fierce.
xx
