he didn’t take home any leftovers.
four years ago today, behind my sunnies, i spotted my handsome guy sitting nervously at an outside table watching me walk down the street towards him for our very first date. before he even said a word to me, he already made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world.
i walked to my car after the date sporting an ear to ear grin and knew with absolute certainty that i would marry anthony. he looked me in the eye. he listened attentively. he paid the tab and tipped generously. but most importantly, he didn’t take home any leftovers.
before i even pulled out of my parking spot i texted anthony to let him know what a wonderful time i had. one second later his response popped onto my screen. there were no games. there was no playing it cool. we were both smitten kittens.
today we are just one week shy of our one year wedding anniversary. i have always been in awe of couples who have survived thirty, forty, and fifty plus years of marriage. but if this year is any indication of the lifetime we have ahead of us, it is all going to pass in the blink of an eye.
anthony – thank you for being the greatest first date, most fun boyfriend, and most wonderful husband i ever did have.
and thank you to everyone who has been part of our love story.
