so wonderfully ours
to my hunny on your second birthday,
two. oh my. my boy, my heart, my world. you are two. how can this be? on one hand i can hardly believe two whole years have passed since the morning we met. on the other it seems as though the days of just me and baba and snoop dogg were an entire lifetime ago.
every day since the very day you were born i have become more sure your soul was plucked from all of the millions of souls in the universe to be our boy.
when baba and i decided we were ready to add children to our family we hoped we would become pregnant quickly. once we knew we were ready to be parents we were anxious to get started. after eight months we become frustrated. impatient. worried.
and then two days before my scheduled visit with my doctor our dreams finally came true. two little lines. in that exact moment my life flipped. i lived – simply – to be your mama.
two years later everything has come into focus. we weren’t having a hard time getting pregnant. the good lord was just waiting to give us you!
as it turned out, you were just as impatient to meet us. eight months later you arrived. so small. so happy. so wonderfully ours.
but it wasn’t the three of us for long was it!? this year we went from being mama, baba, and hunny to a family of four! watching you transform from our baby into a big brother has been incredible. i am tremendously lucky to be home every day watching you and janet play together.
the way you cheer your sister on as she hits milestones… the way you sneak her bits of your snacks when you think i am not looking… the way you share your guys with her and the way you smother her with kisses – it all gives me complete and total confidence you will grow to be a man who loves his family and champions women.
yes – you are wild.
wild as can be.
you dance on tables, climb bookshelves, and do acrobatics off the back of the couch. you are a rule breaker, a stubborn maniac, and a little bit naughty. but you are also generous and sweet and charming. you share your toys not because you are asked to share, but because you want to.
you love music and dancing. chocolate and pineapple. you like to help in the kitchen and play with sticks in the yard. you fall asleep the very moment you get in a car but about two hours after we try to put you to bed. you are beautiful and funny and kind and silly and demanding. you make your grandparents laugh. you torment your dog. you know what you want and how you want it and you aren’t afraid to ask for it. you are my favorite playmate and my hunny bee. hunter hagop i love you beyond measure.
let’s make this year one for the books.
xx
