and like everything else she does, krissy did it with a smile
one year ago, one of my very best girls decided to put her money where her dream was. after working as a hair dresser in someone else’s salon for over a decade, my girl chose to make her dream a reality and opened her very own salon and spa. she had no back up plan, no man to support her, and no one providing her with a plan. my girl had nothing but the money she saved and a fierce determination to make it work. there was a demolition, a rebuild, and tons of decorating. a website had to be built and social media campaigns planned. she chose paint colors and product lines. she set a price list and determined her hours of operation. she worked six days a week, eleven hours a day, and like everything else she does, krissy did it with a smile.
today marks one year since the doors of k & co. salon and spa opened for the first time. in this last trip around the sun krissy has evolved into a full boss bitch. it has been an inspiration to watch someone i love so deeply push through the terrifying early days of small business uncertainty. i witnessed krissy take each day in stride. she researched, read, took classes online, and asked one million questions. she immersed herself in her business and as a result is one of the most kick ass girl bosses i know. somehow she even managed to train for and run a 10k race with me in there too!
krissy, i am so proud to call you my girl. now let’s celebrate!
