over the top nonsensical situations
on our fourth date, i dragged anthony to a cypress hill show with my girlfriends. the date proved to be one of those “you can’t make this stuff up” kind of nights. at one point entertainers on stage smoked weed out of a seven foot long bong while a dj battled a bongo player and my girlfriend silently threw up in the grass. anthony was a great sport, and teased that he would return the favor by roping me into a bizarre night as soon as he could.
since that show, my mister and i have taken turns inviting each other to increasingly bizarre events. until a few weeks ago, we have been (for the most part) neck in neck for the title of most intensely originally “date.”
my future husband blew all of my previous attempts of concocting the craziest date clear out of the water by inviting me to join him in pennsylvania for a night of micro wrestling and music at the cigars international hamburg, pa super store.
yup. midget wrestling and a blues band… inside a cigar store.
Witnessing the micro wrestling tournament was one of the most unique experiences i have had. after watching the matches and enjoying some smokes (cigars, not a seven foot bong… head out of the gutter people!) my mister and i were able to meet and hang out with the wrestlers.
the remainder of the night was spent jamming out to sweet tunes courtesy of the james supra blues band with special guest sarah ayers quartet. the music was bluesy… full of soul and harmonica and whiskey. i loved every loud, irreverent second of it. between sets our friends at cigars international introduced us to james and sarah which was such a treat.
because i have zero self control and absolutely adore making wild situations even more unbelievable, i could not help but instigate and cheer on the little people shenanigans.
huge thanks to our wonderful people at cigars international for hosting my mister and me and for supporting our ridiculous habit of being in over the top nonsensical situations. i cannot wait to come back and visit. peace love and more cowbell.
